The Architecture
of the Frame
Artisanal Joinery, 22K Gold Water Gilding & Museum Glazing
Constructed strictly to international museum conservation benchmarks (ISO 18916 PAT compliance). Every moulding archetype is individually sculpted from sustainably sourced French and American hardwoods, fitted with reversible Kozo-hinge mountings, and hermetically sealed to preserve masterpieces for generations.
Interactive Moulding Archetypes
Each archetype incorporates blind internal joinery with calibrated rebate clearances. Designed for contemporary stretched linen, oil canvases, and heavy archival rag paper.
The Parisian Cavetto Float
Solid American Black Walnut treated with organic hand-rubbed beeswax. Features a recessed shadow-line float trough and internal walnut splines for maximum tensile strength.
22K Water Gilded Cassetta
Hand-carved linden hardwood cushioned on seven layers of French gesso and Armenian bole clay. Water-gilded by hand, then polished to a silken mirror with natural agate teeth.
Belgian Smoked Oak
Flemish white oak wire-brushed by hand to elevate natural rings, then vapor-fumed in sealed chambers to convert inherent tannins into an organic, resonant graphite-umber.
Minimalist Raw Steel Angle
Solid 3mm cold-rolled architectural steel welded at interior miters for a continuous structural monolith. Burnished with graphite wax to resist oxidization without heavy lacquers.
Conservation Glazing & Microclimates
Standard float glass leaches green cast and permits destructive photochemical degradation. Our conservation specifications ensure complete chromic neutrality and structural safety.
UltraVue® Water White Art Glass
Low-iron water-white substrate coated with optical anti-reflective magnetron sputtered film. Renders paintings with pure color fidelity without distracting surface specular glare.
Tru Vue Optium Museum Acrylic®
The gold standard utilized by the Louvre and MoMA. Shatterproof engineered acrylic bonded with anti-static and anti-reflective mineral layers. Safe for delicate chalks and charcoals.
Sealed Microclimate Cassette
An autonomous airtight chamber incorporating buffered 100% rag matting and Gore-Tex® humidity-exchange membranes to maintain a self-regulating relative humidity of 50% RH.
Frame Specification & Workshop Cost Estimator
Configure architectural parameters for your collection. Every order initiates a bespoke drafting review by our master joiners prior to timber roughing.
The Guild Joinery & Handling Standards
Zero compromise on chemical latency. Non-reversible pressure tapes and synthetic glues are strictly prohibited within the atelier.
Hand-Planed Splines
Miters are reinforced with concealed cross-grain splines hand-planed from dense fruitwood to permanently prevent corner separation caused by ambient seasonal changes.
Structural Integrity100% Cotton Rag Mat
Purified alpha-cellulose cotton fibres naturally free of lignins and alum. Buffered with calcium carbonate to an alkaline reserve of pH 8.5 to neutralize acidic atmospheric migration.
PAT ISO 18916 CompliantReversible Kozo Hinges
Original works on paper are suspended exclusively with Japanese mulberry (Kozo) paper and cooked wheat-starch paste. Fully reversible at any point in history using distilled water.
Reversibility MandateMuseum Drop Telemetry
Dispatched in heavy Baltic birch transit cases lined with closed-cell Plastazote® LD45 foam, calibrated internal suspension channels, and digital shock/tilt logging tags.
White-Glove Global FreightConfer with Our Conservators
Whether framing an impressionist oil, contemporary mixed media, or historic parchment, our master framers in Paris and New York provide bespoke material recommendations and on-site assessments.
2025 Moulding Archetypes & Conservation Manual
Contains full 1:1 scale cross-section blueprints, gilded clay chemistry analysis, and optical transmission spectra charts for our full archive of hand-carved mouldings.
